Pediatric Orthopedics

Campbell Clinic has the only team of pediatric orthopedic surgeons in the Memphis and Mid-South region. Our physicians are specially trained to treat congenital diseases, childhood sports injuries, breaks and sprains, and disorders that present during the early, adolescent, and teenage years. Childhood injuries are treated very differently than those in adults. The growing body should be cared for delicately to ensure that no further adverse issues will arise in the future as a result of the injury or its treatment. Our physicians are the orthopedic providers of choice at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Whether simple or complex, when your child is injured, trust the experts at Campbell Clinic.

Our Pediatric Surgeons Treat:

Childhood Fractures

Kids will be kids!  Even under watchful parental supervision, children are prone to hurting themselves.  While their bones are softer than those of adults’ and less prone to injury, we’re prepared to treat childhood fractures to ensure bigger problems don’t arise as they grow.  Most treatments for minor broken bones involve a cast and heal within 4-6 weeks.

Neuromuscular Conditions

Our trained orthopedics team is ready to treat patients at every stage of life.  A neuromuscular disorder affects nerves beyond the brain and spinal cord, and may also affect muscles in the arms, legs, and core.  Many neuromuscular conditions are present at birth and have a genetic component.

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is an unnatural, side-to-side curving of the spine.  While we don’t always know the cause of scoliosis, it is a fairly common condition.  Campbell Clinic uses a variety of treatment options to tackle this condition, and are the only group in Memphis to offer VEPTR® and MAGEC® therapies.

Spina Bifida

Spina bifida is a birth defect that can range from mild to severe.  It occurs when the spine and the spinal cord don’t form properly.  While genetic factors may play a role in this condition, the cause is generally unknown.  Children with this birth defect may become paralyzed, have bowel or bladder control issues, or experience neurological problems.  In severe cases, surgery may be required.

Youth Adult Hip Preservation

Our offices employ a variety of techniques to preserve hip health in children and in young adults.  At Campbell Clinic, we’re proud to host a team of pediatricians, physical therapists, and non-operative sports medicine specialists to help treat underlying hip problems, and prevent future issues as your child rises into adulthood.
